RDM MICR Verifier (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition Verifier)

RDM is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and provides electronic check conversion systems, web-based image and transaction management services for banks, retailers, payment processors, and government agencies, as well as print quality control and image quality systems for various global clients.
MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition.
This technology is used on checks, and RDM is the only company in the world offering a dedicated MICR verifier.
The verifier is available in the QCV series for large sheet scanning and the QCX series for cut-sheet scanning.

QCV Series

Features

The QCV series is RDM’s dedicated MICR (E13B) verification system that easily checks whether the magnetic print level of MICR on checks or drafts conforms to standards during the printing process.
The system allows verification of printed lines directly on large sheets without cutting them into individual check sizes.
It eliminates the need for manual inspection and does not require special skills, making it easy for anyone to perform verification.

Key Features

  • Can be used as a standalone unit on the printing floor
  • Easy operation—anyone can perform verification
  • Highly reliable
  • Supports a wide range of sheet sizes
  • Rugged design
  • Detailed data verification available when combined with the included QCX software (PC-installable)

QCX Software

Analyzes the read magnetic signal levels and displays results in waveform, numeric, and graph formats to determine pass/fail, report MICR defects, image issues, and warnings.
Provides features for creating custom alerts and screen pop-ups.
This allows problems to be reported or emailed to administrators and informs printing operators of necessary actions.

Advantages

The upgradable software offers a reliable and intuitive user interface.

  • Simultaneous magnetic and optical MICR testing
  • Image readiness testing
  • Custom layouts for MICR and image
  • Test log files for statistical analysis
  • Test alerts and on-screen popup warnings

Three Types of QCV Models

The QCV series is available in three different models.

QCV Basic

The basic model features a fixed reading head. While sheet size does not matter, the reader scans the character string in the clear band at the bottom of the document and can read all three horizontally aligned MICR fields in a single pass.

QCX Series

Features

The new MICR (E13B and CMC7) QCX verifier offers innovative functionality by combining magnetic level checks with optional OCR (Optical Character Recognition), providing operators with detailed verification results simultaneously.

  • Easy to operate for anyone with high accuracy
  • Magnetic reading precision: 0.025 mm
  • Verification results can be sent via email
  • Highly reliable
  • Statistical test log file feature
  • High-speed communication with PC via USB

Since the QCX simultaneously generates detailed reports using magnetic level readings and optional OCR, even beginners can perform accurate verification with confidence.
