Representative MECO Seal Model

MECO AH Type-2: Easy Onsite Face Load Adjustment

The MECO AH Type-2 model is designed to fit within limited space for small- to large-diameter shafts.
This is a soft-face double mechanical seal that uses an elastomer drive to rotate a synthetic resin seal face (rotor) against a fixed stainless steel sealing face (stator).
The rotor is maintained in full contact with the two stainless steel stators by the elastomer and externally supplied purge gas.
The AH Type-2 features multiple adjustment gaskets that allow face pressure adjustments to be made in the field.

[Features]

  • Fully split construction
  • Face load applied via air pressure
  • Elastomer construction

[Applications]

This seal model can be used on horizontal, inclined, or vertical shafts. It is suitable for applications with minimal thermal expansion or pressure variation. It can also be designed for certain explosive environments.

  • Screw conveyors
  • Blenders
  • Bucket elevators
  • Mixers

[Size]

The MECO AH Type-2 seal is custom-designed and manufactured to order.
Available shaft sizes range from ¾ inch (18 mm) to 18.5 inches (470 mm), with any intermediate size also available.

[Specifications]

Item Details
Temperature -50 to 260°C (lower for large-diameter shafts)
Pressure Vacuum to +140 kPa (1.4 bar)

*MECO EA Type-2: Adjustable Without Disassembly

The MECO EA Type-2 model is suitable for a wide range of sealing applications involving small to large diameter shafts at low to moderate speeds.
It features MECO’s full-contact, soft-face mechanical shaft seal technology.
The EA Type-2 seal model is designed as a superior alternative to traditional stuffing boxes and packing glands.
This seal includes separate inner and outer housings, each with either integral or replaceable stationary seal faces.
Between the stators is a rotating seal face assembly, composed of two replaceable rotors and a drive elastomer, along with an adjusting gasket that maintains the seal cavity's integrity.
By controlling the distance between the stators, the loading force on the seal faces is generated.
Over time, as the rotors wear, the gas pressure in the seal cavity may gradually decrease. However, by repositioning the outer stator toward the housing using the assembly bolts, the rotating seal face is reset and the internal pressure within the seal cavity is restored.

[Features]

  • Fully split design
  • Elastomer drive

[Applications]

This seal is suitable for vacuum service and steady-state applications with minimal thermal expansion or pressure variation. It allows for seal adjustment without emptying the process vessel.

  • Blenders

*MECO HB Seal: Designed for CEMA and Metric Equipment Sizes

The MECO HB seal model is a full-contact, air-purged, soft-face mechanical shaft seal primarily designed for screw conveyors.
Two replaceable stainless steel stationary seal faces are mounted in the seal housing. Through elastomeric drive, a polymer seal face of bearing-grade material rotates against the stationary stainless steel face.
Inside, a rotary seal face assembly consisting of a replaceable rotor and a drive elastomer is included. The elastomer and rotor work in tandem to form the seal.
The low-friction rotary seal face is oriented perpendicular to the shaft and makes full contact with the stationary seal face.

The cavity is filled with low-pressure air or gas, which functions as a barrier fluid and applies pneumatic loading to the seal face.
The HB seal maximizes sealing capability while minimizing barrier gas consumption by ensuring face flatness and parallelism.

HB seals are designed to fit equipment built to the standards of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) and their metric equivalents.

[Features]

  • Air-purged
  • Economical
  • Fully split repair kit (with one-piece housing)

[Applications]

*MECO HC Seal: Air-Free Sealing Technology

The MECO HC seal model is a full-contact soft-face mechanical shaft seal. Using elastomeric drive, a bearing-grade polymer seal face is rotated against a stainless steel stationary face.
The HC seal features a metallic or FDA Nylon housing that will not collapse from overtightened flange bearings.
Two replaceable stainless steel stationary seal faces are installed in the housing. Internally, the rotary seal face assembly includes a replaceable rotor and a drive elastomer.
The elastomer and rotor work together to maintain airtight and watertight sealing. The low-friction rotary face is perpendicular to the shaft and in full contact with the stationary face.
Around the drive elastomer, a stainless steel hose clamp is used to apply sealing force to the seal face.

The HC seal is designed for equipment built to CEMA standards and metric equivalents.
